The Department of Television, Film and Photography at the University of Dhaka hosted a Graduate Production Pitching Session, bringing together emerging filmmakers and industry professionals to strengthen links between academia and Bangladesh’s audiovisual sector.

Final-year honours students pitched 21 film projects, both fiction and non-fiction, before a panel of filmmakers, producers and content specialists. The session evolved beyond a formal presentation into an interactive platform for dialogue between students and industry practitioners.

The panel included representatives from the Independent Film Producers’ Platform of Bangladesh, Bongo and Dhaka DocLab, alongside professionals from production houses such as Creative Wings, Cine Craft, Films Five, Gao Productions and Pandora’s Box.

Industry representatives expressed interest in supporting selected projects through production, post-production and creative collaboration. The Independent Film Producers’ Platform of Bangladesh is expected to play a coordinating role in facilitating partnerships and maintaining quality.

The initiative marks a step towards strengthening connections between film education and industry practice in Bangladesh. It offers students opportunities to engage with real production environments while enabling the industry to discover new talent and narratives.
