Ulab hosts organic soap-making session as part of Earth Day celebrations
The University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh Sustainable Development Club successfully concluded the third day of its Earth Day Celebration 2026 with an engaging Organic Soap Making Session held on campus.
The workshop served as a hands-on platform to promote environmental awareness through creative and sustainable practices. Returning as a popular segment of the celebration, the session attracted enthusiastic participation from across the university community.
Designed to encourage eco-friendly lifestyle choices, the workshop introduced participants to the process of making organic, chemical-free soap using environmentally conscious methods. The session combined practical learning with sustainability-focused awareness, offering participants a direct way to engage with responsible consumption practices.
A highlight of the event was the presence of Ulab Vice-Chancellor Shamsad Mortuza, who joined participants in crafting his own organic soap. His participation added a symbolic dimension to the session, reflecting the university’s institutional commitment to sustainability and student-led initiatives.
The programme saw active participation from faculty members, alumni, students, and invited guests, creating a collaborative and interactive environment. The event was organised with the support of the Department of Environmental Studies and Sustainability, with supervision from Dr Shahana Afrose Chowdhury, Associate Professor of the department.
Through initiatives such as this, Ulab continues to promote environmental responsibility, sustainable innovation, and conscious living within its academic community.
