The university has also been placed 11th overall among all public and private universities in Bangladesh, according to the ranking.

DUET Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Mohammad Joynal Abedin described the achievement as a proud milestone for the university.

He said the recognition in the Simago ranking was not merely a position, but a reflection of the university’s long-standing academic pursuit, commitment to research and innovative efforts.

He said the current administration had been working with a well-organised roadmap since taking office, giving priority to improving the quality of research, increasing international publications and strengthening industry-academia collaboration.

“Our goal is not only to move ahead in rankings, but also to build a sustainable culture of knowledge creation and innovation,” he said.

To achieve that, the university has intensified efforts to increase the involvement of master’s and PhD students in research, expand research facilities, and attract talented teachers and students, he added.

The vice-chancellor also said DUET was attaching importance to curriculum modernisation, academic excellence and the internationalisation of research by utilising all of the university’s resources.

“With the combined efforts of all, we are determined to establish DUET as a world-class centre of education and research,” he said.

He thanked all teachers, students, officials and employees of the university and called on everyone to contribute from their respective positions to bringing about a transformative change in engineering and technology education under DUET’s leadership.

According to the press release, 47 public and private universities from Bangladesh were included in this year’s Simago ranking.

The Simago Institutions Rankings determine the overall standing of universities based on three main indicators — research, innovation and social impact. Performance under each indicator is also assessed separately.
