The International Standard University (ISU) has published the inaugural issue of its textile-focused magazine Spandex, aimed at fostering students’ creativity, innovation, and presentation skills.
The magazine was officially unveiled on Thursday at the university’s media lab in a programme organised by the ISU Textile Club. Vice-Chancellor Abdul Awal Khan inaugurated the publication.
The event was chaired by Md Abul Kashem, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology and Chairman of the Department of Textile Engineering. Faculty members, including Shamima Siddika, Habiba Altaf, and Md Hasibul Hasan, along with department heads and students, were also present.
Speaking at the event, the vice-chancellor highlighted the textile sector’s critical role in Bangladesh’s economy and stressed the importance of innovation and problem-solving to sustain its growth. He noted that Spandex would serve as a valuable platform for students to connect with industry realities and develop practical insights for their future careers.
He also encouraged students to move beyond traditional academic boundaries by engaging in writing, critical thinking, and creative exploration.
In his remarks, Prof Md Abul Kashem said the magazine would help strengthen students’ intellectual and analytical capabilities. He added that contributing to such a platform enables students to address real-world industry challenges and present innovative ideas.
Published under the Department of Textile Engineering, Spandex represents a student-driven initiative by the ISU Textile Club, reflecting the university’s commitment to experiential learning and industry engagement.
