The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at North South University organised an awareness session titled “Immunisation for All” on Tuesday, 28 April, 2026, in observance of World Immunisation Week 2026. The event aimed to highlight the vital role of vaccines in safeguarding public health and preventing serious diseases.

Held at 1:00 PM in Audi 801 on the university campus, the programme brought together students, faculty members, and university officials to emphasise the importance of immunisation in building a healthier and safer community.

The session featured Professor Md. Nazrul Islam of the Department of Rheumatology at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University as the keynote speaker. A respected academic and public health expert, Professor Islam shared insights on the impact of vaccines, the importance of immunisation programmes, and the collective responsibility of communities to ensure vaccine access for all. The event was also attended by Lucky Singha, Assistant General Manager of Synovia Pharmaceuticals.

The initiative was organised by the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences in collaboration with partner organisations dedicated to promoting healthcare awareness and community well-being. The programme was sponsored by Synovia, reflecting the organisation’s commitment to advancing health awareness and supporting public health initiatives.

Among the distinguished attendees were the Vice Chancellor of North South University, Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury; Pro Vice Chancellor Professor Nasar U Ahmed; and Treasurer Professor Dr Abdur Rob Khan. Also present were the Dean of the School of Health and Life Sciences, Professor Dr Dipak Kumar Mitra, and the Chairman of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Dr Mohammad Hossain Shariare.

The session aimed to educate and inspire participants about the benefits of immunisation, address common misconceptions surrounding vaccines, and encourage active engagement in immunisation efforts. Through this programme, North South University contributed to the global campaign for equitable vaccine access and reinforced the importance of immunisation as a cornerstone of public health.

The event underscored the university’s ongoing commitment to promoting health education, fostering social responsibility, and supporting global public health initiatives through awareness and community engagement.
