IUBAT secures international accreditation for all engineering programmes
The International University of Business Agriculture and Technology has received accreditation from the Board of Accreditation for Engineering and Technical Education for all four of its engineering programmes.
The accredited programmes are Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.
According to the university, the accreditation has been granted for six years.
The university said it submitted four programmes for accreditation this year, and all of them met the required standards. It also said IUBAT has become the first university in Bangladesh to receive accreditation simultaneously for all its engineering programmes.
The accreditation formally recognises that the academic programmes meet required quality standards. It is expected to help students gain wider recognition when applying for higher education abroad, improve access to scholarship opportunities, and strengthen their competitiveness in multinational job markets.
The university said continuous monitoring of curriculum and teaching quality under the accreditation framework would also support sustained academic improvement.
The accreditation is also expected to strengthen future alignment with global frameworks such as the Washington Accord, which facilitates international mobility, professional recognition and employment opportunities for engineering graduates.
The Board of Accreditation for Engineering and Technical Education, operating under the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh, works to ensure the quality of engineering and technical education in the country. It evaluates academic programmes of higher education institutions and grants accreditation based on established national and international standards.
Established in 1991, IUBAT is one of the pioneering private universities in Bangladesh. It was founded by educationist and former Institute of Business Administration, University of Dhaka director Professor Dr M Alimullah Miyan.
The university said it has continued to focus on academic excellence, research and innovation, earning national and international recognition.
