University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) has achieved a major international milestone by securing the top position in Bangladesh and ranking 36th globally in the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI) 2026.
Among nearly 2,000 universities evaluated worldwide, ULAB is the only Bangladeshi university to place within the Global Top 40 this year.
The achievement marks a continuation of ULAB’s consistent progress in the WURI rankings. The university has remained within the Global Top 100 for six consecutive years, improving steadily from 100th position in 2021 to 36th in 2026.
University officials said the recognition reflects long-term institutional commitment, strategic planning, and the collective efforts of faculty members, students, staff, alumni, and collaborators.
Unlike many larger universities with broader academic structures, ULAB has focused on innovation, sustainability, social impact, and project-based learning. The university emphasises connecting academic knowledge with real-world challenges through interdisciplinary collaboration, community engagement, and forward-looking educational practices.
In the WURI 2026 rankings, ULAB secured 5th place globally in Social Impact through Knowledge Transfer, 30th globally in Crisis Management, and 61st globally in Digital and AI Transformation in Strategy and Management.
The university also received recognition in areas including ethics, integrity, technology transfer, and future-oriented education, reflecting its broader commitment to responsible and innovative higher education.
ULAB noted that these achievements align with its institutional philosophy of contributing meaningfully to society, supporting sustainable development, fostering innovation, and preparing students to become responsible global citizens.
The university also acknowledged the leadership of Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Jude William Genilo, highlighting his role in strengthening ULAB’s international ranking initiatives and expanding its global presence.
While celebrating the achievement, ULAB stated that the recognition also brings greater responsibility to further strengthen its contributions to education, research, sustainability, creativity, and public engagement at both national and international levels.
