The 58th Graduation Ceremony of the Institute of Business Administration, University of Dhaka, was held on 15 May for the graduates of 2025 at the Bangladesh China Friendship Conference Center. A total of 365 students were awarded degrees across the BBA, MBA, Executive MBA, and DBA programmes. Among them, 116 received BBA degrees, 126 received MBA degrees, 122 received Executive MBA degrees, and one graduate was awarded the DBA degree.

Professor Dr A. B. M. Obaidul Islam, Vice Chancellor of the University of Dhaka, attended the ceremony as the Chief Guest. The event was chaired by Professor Dr Abu Yousuf Md Abdullah, Director of IBA.

Delivering the graduation address, former Finance Advisor to the interim government Dr Salehuddin Ahmed encouraged the graduates to devote deliberate effort to building the country’s economy. He said, “Standing here today, I am reminded of my own journey. Just like you, we were students in a turbulent time, witnessing our nation strive to find its identity anew, both economically and politically. Today, I see a reflection of that same revolutionary energy, but with resources and global exposure that were beyond the reach of my generation.”

Professor Dr A. B. M. Obaidul Islam praised the graduates for navigating the complexities and challenges the country has faced in recent times. He remarked, “Our current socio-economic climate demands business professionals equipped with knowledge, skill, grit, compassion, and morality. At this critical juncture in the global economy, we are poised to embark on a transformative chapter in history.”

Dr Abu Yousuf Md Abdullah, Director of IBA, encouraged students to pursue entrepreneurial ventures, emphasising that, “The struggle of entrepreneurship is matched only by the deep contentment of seeing a vision come to life. Ambition is not just about reaching the top of an existing hierarchy; it is about the courage to believe in a future that is not yet visible.” He urged students to think critically, take calculated risks, and challenge the status quo.

In his welcome speech, Professor Dr Iftekharul Amin of IBA advised the students, “Do not just join the world as it is; use everything you have learned here to build the world as it should be.” He reminded graduates of their potential to break every glass ceiling and urged them to let integrity guide them towards kindness.

This year, 26 students were named to the Director’s Honour List for their exceptional academic performance, and two students received gold medals.
