Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation and Jashore University of Science and Technology have jointly launched a five-day training programme on entrepreneurship development to help students build business skills and prepare for self-employment.

The programme, titled “Entrepreneurship Development”, was inaugurated on 20 June 2026 at Room 106 of the Sir Jagadish Chandra Bose Academic Building on the university campus.

The training has been organised jointly by the BSCIC Training Institute, the training arm of Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation, and the Faculty of Business Studies of Jashore University of Science and Technology.

The inaugural ceremony was chaired by Faculty of Business Studies Dean Dr Mohammad Kamal Hosen.

Jashore University of Science and Technology Vice-Chancellor (Routine Charge) Professor Dr Engineer Imran Khan attended the event as the chief guest.

Management Department Assistant Professor Fatema Sultana and Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation Planning and Research Wing General Manager and BSCIC Training Institute Principal Dr Md Forhad Ahmed spoke as special guests.

Course Director Md Tanzim Hosen, Associate Faculty Member at BSCIC Training Institute, delivered the welcome speech.

Course Coordinator Miftahul Jannat Ripa, Assistant Faculty Member, and Md Rafiqul Islam, Assistant Faculty Member at BSCIC Training Institute, were also present.

Speaking as the chief guest, Professor Dr Engineer Imran Khan said, “Our university’s long-standing mission and vision is that students will not only seek jobs, but also create jobs. For this, our students must be developed as good entrepreneurs. There is no alternative to such training in building good entrepreneurs. I believe students will learn from this training the mindset needed to become entrepreneurs and face challenges.”

Other speakers said entrepreneurship development has become an important component in achieving sustainable development, creating employment and ensuring economic growth in the current global economic context.

They said a capable and self-reliant young generation can be developed by nurturing entrepreneurial mindset, innovative thinking and business skills among university students.

To this end, Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation has long been implementing entrepreneurship development activities across the country.

During the training programme, which will continue until 24 June 2026, participating students will receive training on business plan preparation, enterprise management, marketing strategies, financial management, leadership development, and practical and technical aspects of becoming successful entrepreneurs.

The main objective of the joint initiative is to promote an entrepreneurial culture among university students and contribute to expanding opportunities for successful self-employment.
