IUB Corporate session

To bridge the gap between university life and the professional world, Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) hosted an exclusive career development session titled Campus to Corporate at its Multipurpose Hall on Thursday (9 July).

Organised by the Office of Career Guidance, Placement & Alumni Relations (CGP&AR) in collaboration with The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award at IUB and presented by Daily Agamir Somoy, the masterclass aimed to equip graduating students and young professionals with the practical skills, industry knowledge and professional mindset needed to succeed in today’s competitive job market.

The session focused on helping students prepare for internships and full-time corporate roles by offering practical guidance on workplace communication, career planning and building a strong professional profile.

Addressing the participants, the organisers highlighted that transitioning from university to the corporate world requires more than academic excellence. They emphasised the importance of adaptability, soft skills and strategic career planning in achieving long-term professional success.

The highlight of the programme was an interactive session led by renowned corporate trainer and public speaker Ghulam Sumdany Don. Drawing on his extensive experience, he shared valuable insights on developing a corporate mindset, understanding what employers seek beyond academic results, and using internships and professional networking to build a successful career.

The seminar attracted enthusiastic participation from students across different departments, along with faculty members and university officials. Mohammad Manjurul Haque Khan, Director of the Office of Career Guidance, Placement & Alumni Relations, attended the event, reaffirming IUB’s commitment to preparing students for the evolving workplace.

The programme concluded with an engaging question-and-answer session, where students sought advice on CV writing, interview preparation and navigating the early stages of their professional careers. The organisers said initiatives such as Campus to Corporate reflect IUB’s continued commitment to enhancing students’ employability and ensuring a smooth transition from academia to the corporate world.
