The Institute of Business Administration (IBA) at the University of Dhaka and Beximco Pharmaceuticals PLC have partnered to deliver a six-month executive training programme for pharmaceutical professionals.
The organisations signed a memorandum of understanding on 14 July to jointly conduct the Advanced Certificate in Pharmaceutical Business Administration programme.
Professor Dr Abu Yousuf Md Abdullah, Director of IBA at the University of Dhaka, and Rabbur Reza, Chief Operating Officer of Beximco Pharmaceuticals PLC, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organisations.
Professor Dr Md Mohiuddin, Moderator of the Advanced Certificate in Pharmaceutical Business Administration programme at IBA, and MA Arshad Bhuiyan, Executive Director and Head of Human Resources at Beximco Pharmaceuticals PLC, also attended the signing ceremony.
Speakers emphasised the importance of closer collaboration between academia and industry. They expressed optimism that the initiative would help develop skilled professionals for Bangladesh’s pharmaceutical sector.
Under the agreement, IBA will offer the programme to strengthen the professional capabilities of Beximco Pharmaceuticals officials.
The course will focus on business administration, leadership, management and the pharmaceutical business, aligning participants’ skills with the industry’s evolving needs.
Each batch will run for approximately six months, comprising 40 sessions and about 120 hours of instruction.
Up to four batches will be conducted over two years, subject to mutual agreement, with each accommodating 40–45 participants.
IBA faculty members and senior industry executives will deliver the training through lectures, case studies, group exercises, workshops and presentations.
Participants who complete the course successfully will receive certificates from IBA at the University of Dhaka.
