IUB student selected for Youth Climate Negotiators Fellowship
Fahmida Alom Juthe, a student of the Department of Finance at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB), has been selected as a Youth Climate Negotiator Fellow under the Youth Climate Negotiators Fellowship.
She is the only representative from IUB selected for the highly competitive programme, which includes 16 young participants from across Bangladesh.
Jointly organised by Youth for NDCs and Unicef Bangladesh, the fellowship aims to equip young leaders with the knowledge and skills required for climate diplomacy and international climate negotiations.
As part of the fellowship, Juthe will participate in a series of capacity-building sessions and negotiation training programmes. Upon successfully completing the fellowship requirements, she and the other selected fellows will attend the UN Climate Change Conference (COP31), scheduled to be held in Antalya, Türkiye, in November. Her participation in the conference will be fully funded.
IUB said Juthe’s selection reflects her commitment to environmental advocacy and climate action while highlighting the growing contribution of Bangladeshi youth to global climate discussions.
