AUW Summer School concludes with certificates for 104 students
Asian University for Women (AUW) in Chattogram has concluded its 2026 Math and Science Summer School, awarding certificates to 104 school and college students from across Bangladesh who completed the four-week programme.
The closing ceremony was held at the AUW campus and supported by Chevron Bangladesh, according to a press release. The programme aims to encourage young women to pursue education and careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
Dr Md Ziauddin, Divisional Commissioner, Chattogram, attended the ceremony as the chief guest. Ashiq Rahman, Director of Operations at Chevron Bangladesh, and Dee Bourbon, Lead Advisor, Community Partnerships at Chevron, were also present as special guests.
Dr Mohiuddin Ahsanul Kabir Chowdhury, Director of the Summer School, thanked the participating students and faculty for their dedication, saying the programme continues to create opportunities for young women across the country.
Ashiq Rahman said Chevron Bangladesh has supported the Math and Science Summer School since 2019 to encourage more young women to pursue STEM education and develop their potential.
Dee Bourbon said the programme helps young women build confidence, expand their knowledge and pursue opportunities that can shape their futures.
Dr Md Ziauddin praised AUW and Chevron Bangladesh for their continued efforts to advance women’s education and prepare future STEM leaders. He said initiatives such as the Summer School play an important role in developing future scientists, innovators and changemakers.
Seven participants from Sylhet and Habiganj received the ‘Emerging Leader Award’ in recognition of their performance and leadership potential.
Since its launch in 2019, the Chevron Bangladesh-supported AUW Summer School has provided 477 young women from across Bangladesh with specialised courses in mathematics, physics, chemistry, computer programming and public health, taught by local and international faculty.
