The University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) held its Faculty Retreat 2026 to review the institution’s journey and develop ideas for its future strategy.

The two-day retreat was held at CCULB Resort on 21–22 August, according to a press release.

ULAB Board of Trustees President Dr Kazi Anis Ahmed addressed the programme, highlighting the university’s founding vision and values.

A cultural evening featured poetry, music, drama, recitation and other creative performances by faculty members. The combined team from the General Education Department and Centre for Language Studies emerged as the winner.

Outstanding participants also received the Vice-Chancellor’s Excellence Awards and honourable mentions.

The retreat focused on ULAB’s strategic direction and its ambition to become a future-ready university, with capability development serving as its signature teaching approach.

Subcommittees presented recommendations developed through two months of collective work. The proposals will contribute to the university’s draft strategy and future implementation initiatives.

ULAB Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Shamsad Mortuza emphasised collective vision, capability development, academic excellence and institutional innovation as key priorities.

The Directorate of Academic Affairs, Office of Faculty Research and Centre for Teaching and Learning will collaborate to strengthen ULAB’s teaching and research ecosystem.

Board of Trustees Special Adviser and Treasurer Professor Dr Milan Kumar Bhattacharjee, Registrar Lieutenant Colonel Md Foyzul Islam (Retired), deans, department heads and senior officials also attended.

Participants discussed planned reforms to human resources and academic policies, research incentives, internationalisation, a new ULAB website, virtual-reality campus mapping and the artificial intelligence-based EduSight system.

The retreat concluded with a shared commitment to developing a future-ready ULAB through the collective efforts of its faculty members and officials.
