The Dhaka University National Model United Nations (DUNMUN) 2026 concluded with a closing ceremony at the Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Building of the University of Dhaka, bringing together more than 500 delegates across 12 committees.

Organised by the Dhaka University Model United Nations Association (DUMUNA), the conference provided delegates with a platform to engage in diplomatic discourse, debate global issues and develop skills in negotiation, consensus-building and critical thinking.

Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury attended the closing ceremony as the chief guest. University of Dhaka Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr A. B. M. Obaidul Islam, UN Resident Coordinator ad interim in Bangladesh Carol Flore-Smereczniak and Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of Switzerland in Bangladesh Alberto Giovanetti were present as special guests.

Asian Development Bank (ADB) Country Director Qingfeng Zhang attended as the guest of honour, while former DUMUNA President Rakibuzzaman Rakib joined as the alumni guest.

The closing ceremony recognised the dedication and intellectual engagement of delegates, chairs, organisers and volunteers throughout the conference.

DUNMUN 2026 enabled participants to explore global challenges from different perspectives and develop leadership, diplomacy and problem-solving skills through committee sessions and collaborative discussions.

Secretary-General Ahtab Jamil Mahin formally declared the conference closed, reaffirming DUMUNA’s commitment to building a knowledgeable and globally aware society and welcoming participants to DUNMUN 2027.

DUMUNA said it remains committed to developing young people into informed, articulate and globally minded future leaders.
