University of Asia Pacific (UAP) will host the ICPC-JRC Inter College Programming Contest 2026 and the ICPC-JRC Intra-UAP Programming Contest 2026 on Saturday, 29 August, aiming to encourage competitive programming among school, college and university students.

Organised by UAP’s Programming Contest Club (PCC) and Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), the four-hour contests will feature an ICPC-style competitive programming environment with automated judging and a real-time scoreboard, according to a press release.

The inter-college contest will be open to students from the HSC 2026–28 batches and eligible school students, while the intra-UAP contest will be exclusively for UAP students.

Both competitions will conclude with a prize-giving ceremony, where the ICPC-JRC Scholarship Award will also be presented. The scholarship honours the legacy of late Professor Dr Jamilur Reza Choudhury, who played a significant role in promoting competitive programming in Bangladesh.

Professor Jamilur Reza Choudhury’s guidance and support contributed to UAP hosting the National Collegiate Programming Contest and ACM-ICPC Dhaka Regionals in 2016 and 2017. In 2022, UAP hosted the 45th ICPC World Finals, the first edition of the global competition to be held in Bangladesh.

To continue this legacy, the ICPC Foundation provided UAP with a USD50,000 fund to promote competitive programming among young people. UAP is using the fund to provide the ICPC-JRC Scholarship Award and has expanded the initiative to include college-level students.

Southeast Bank PLC is the title sponsor, while Innovative Skills Ltd is the bronze sponsor. UAP has allocated a prize pool of Tk75,000 for the inter-college contest.

The registration deadline is 27 August (today). The contests aim to strengthen the competitive programming culture in Bangladesh and help young programmers develop problem-solving and programming skills.
