Uttara University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Eaysmin Ara Lekha has received the Commonwealth Business Excellence Award 2026 for her leadership and contributions to higher education.

She received the award in the “Women in Leadership in Education” category at a ceremony in London on 27 August, according to a press release.

The Commonwealth Business Excellence Awards recognise individuals and organisations for leadership, institutional development, professional excellence and contributions to the Commonwealth community.

“I would like to dedicate this award to my students and my dear colleagues at Uttara University,” Lekha said at the ceremony.

The university said the recognition highlighted the contribution of women leaders to the development of higher education and could inspire women academics, educators, researchers and aspiring leaders.

During Lekha’s tenure as vice-chancellor, Uttara University has focused on academic quality, research, innovation, student development and engagement with national and international academic communities.

The university authorities described the award as a milestone in the institution’s efforts to strengthen its international connections in higher education, research and innovation.

Members of the Uttara University community congratulated Lekha and reaffirmed their commitment to promoting quality education, research, innovation and an inclusive academic environment.
