Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is bringing one of gaming’s most recognisable characters to its Halloween event, with the Doom Slayer joining the game as a playable operator.

Activision will introduce the Doom Slayer as part of “The Haunting”, the upcoming Halloween-themed update for Black Ops 7. The update is scheduled to arrive on 17 September and is expected to be among the final major content drops for the game ahead of Modern Warfare 4’s release in October.

The Doom crossover will arrive on 24 September through a dedicated event pass. Players will be able to unlock a Doom Slayer operator inspired by Doom: The Dark Ages, while another Doomguy skin will take inspiration from the character’s appearance in the original Doom games.

The crossover will also bring some of Doom’s most recognisable weapons to Call of Duty, including the shotgun, Crucible blade and the legendary BFG.

Players who do not purchase the premium event pass will still have access to a free reward tier, featuring Doom-themed cosmetics such as UAC scientist and researcher skins, weapon charms and other items.

The Haunting update is not limited to the Doom crossover. It will also introduce a nighttime version of the Avalon map, new maps, limited-time multiplayer modes and Halloween-themed enemies and content in Black Ops 7’s Endgame mode.

The update comes as Black Ops 7 approaches the end of its content cycle. The game received a mixed response following its launch, with criticism directed at its campaign and multiplayer experience. It also faced stiff competition from titles such as Battlefield 6 and Arc Raiders.

Treyarch has continued to support the game with new content and updates based on player feedback. With Modern Warfare 4 arriving in October, The Haunting could serve as one of the last major opportunities for Black Ops 7 players to jump back in before the next Call of Duty era begins.
