BECITHCON 2026 concludes with research awards at IUBAT
IEEE International Conference on Biomedical Engineering, Computer and Information Technology for Health (BECITHCON 2026) concluded today (7 October) at the International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT).
Jointly organised by the IEEE Bangladesh Section and the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBS) Bangladesh Chapter, with IUBAT as the host institution, the conference brought together researchers, academics, physicians, engineers, industry professionals and students from Bangladesh and abroad, according to the press release.
Professor Dr Abdur Rab, vice-chancellor of IUBAT, guided the conference as chief adviser. Professor Dr Shaikh Anowarul Fattah, professor of electrical and electronic engineering at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet) and chair of the IEEE EMBS Bangladesh Chapter, served as technical programme committee chair.
Dr Celia Shahnaz, professor of electrical and electronic engineering at Buet and vice-chair of the IEEE EMBS Bangladesh Chapter, served as general chair.
Professor Dr Mohammed Imamul Hassan Bhuiyan, professor of electrical and electronic engineering at Buet and chair of the IEEE Bangladesh Section, and Professor Dr Md Monirul Islam, professor and head of IUBAT’s Department of Civil Engineering, served as organising chairs.
Dr Khadiza Akter, associate professor and coordinator of IUBAT’s Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and technical programme committee secretary of BECITHCON 2026, delivered the welcome address.
The conference featured international researchers and speakers, including several IEEE fellows. The programme included eight invited lectures, 31 technical sessions and a Technical Expert Forum covering emerging developments in biomedical engineering, artificial intelligence, healthcare technology, medical imaging, biomedical devices and health informatics.
An IEEE Humanitarian Technology Programme was also held as part of the conference, highlighting technology-based solutions for community development and improved quality of life.
Professor Selina Nargis, chief patron of the conference and treasurer and director of administration of IUBAT, chaired the closing session. She delivered the vote of thanks to the organisers, authors, session chairs, participants and contributors.
Best Paper Awards were presented to outstanding research contributions during the closing ceremony.
The organisers expressed hope that BECITHCON 2026 would encourage international research collaboration and inspire young researchers to contribute to technology-driven healthcare innovation in Bangladesh and beyond.
