8th OCT PR

Bangladesh International Tutorial (BIT) hosted the sixth edition of BITMUN, known as BITMUN VI, from 1 to 3 October at its Uttara campus, bringing together around 600 delegates from 130 schools across the country.

Following five successful editions, the three-day conference transformed BIT’s 17-bigha campus into a platform for international diplomacy. Participants represented different countries and engaged in debates, discussions and diplomatic negotiations across 14 committees, including the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), according to the press release.

This year’s theme, “Ensuring Peace Through Global Governance Amidst Diverging Interests Conflicting with International Obligations”, focused on how peace and cooperation can be maintained amid competing national interests and international obligations.

The conference motto, “Every Move Counts”, reflected the importance of every decision and contribution made throughout the event. Through various activities, delegates had opportunities to develop and practise public speaking, critical thinking, problem-solving, negotiation, compromise, teamwork and leadership skills.

Alongside the conference sessions, participants received meals and other necessary logistical support throughout the three days. Delegates also received the BITMUN muffler, a signature keepsake of the conference.

Excellence Consultants was the title sponsor of BITMUN VI. The media partners were The Business Standard, Channel 24, Cablegram, The Front Page and Infogram.

Beyond debates and diplomatic discussions, the second day featured a special event themed “Cha-er Adda”, allowing participants to step away from formal sessions, get to know one another and spend time together. The programme featured musical performances by singer Arnob and bands Blue Jeans and Ignite.

The conference concluded with a closing ceremony featuring speeches from the BITMUN Core Panel, followed by an awards ceremony. Glenrich International School won the Best Delegation award, while Adamjee Cantonment College secured second place.

With hundreds of students contributing in different roles throughout the conference, BITMUN VI reflected its central message: every move counted. The sixth edition provided students from schools across the country with a platform to engage with global issues, exchange ideas and strengthen their skills in diplomacy, communication, leadership and teamwork.
