DU’s Voice of Business opens writing contest on education abroad, migration
Voice of Business, a student-run business and publication club at Dhaka University’s Faculty of Business Studies, has opened registration for a writing contest on education abroad, migration and the opportunities and challenges facing young Bangladeshis.
College, undergraduate and postgraduate students can register for the contest until 17 October, with registration opening on 7 October.
Titled “The Other Side of Home: Broader Pursuits”, the VoB Writing Contest ’26 will explore the theme “The Dream Abroad: Education, Migration, and the Price of Opportunity”.
Participants are invited to examine the aspirations, opportunities, challenges, and broader social and economic realities of pursuing education abroad. They may submit fiction, documentary writing, personal accounts, or other forms of writing to approach the subject from different perspectives.
The contest has a total prize pool of Tk20,000. The champion will receive Tk10,000, while the first and second runners-up will receive Tk6,000 and Tk4,000 respectively.
The club will publish the top three submissions in its 16th magazine issue. The top 10 entries will also be featured on its website and Facebook page.
The organisers said the contest would give young writers a platform to engage with contemporary issues and express thoughtful perspectives through writing.
By examining the connections between education, migration, ambition, opportunity, and the meaning of home, the competition aims to highlight diverse voices on an issue shaping Bangladesh’s youth.
Founded in 2007, Voice of Business describes itself as Bangladesh’s first and largest student-run business and publication club. Based at Dhaka University’s Faculty of Business Studies, it publishes an annual magazine and organises events that strengthen connections between students and the corporate sector.
Its activities include BRANDrill, writing contests, and seminars.
Interested participants can register through the online form.
