Jagannath University, Chittagong University, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, and Chittagong Medical University have appointed new vice-chancellors while Jahangirnagar University has appointed new pro-vice chancellors and a treasurer today (18 September).
Professor Dr Md Rezaul Karim of the Department of Social Work at Jagannath University has been appointed as the seventh vice-chancellor of the university.
Chittagong University appointed Muhammad Yeahia Akhter, a retired professor from the political science department of the university as the acting vice-chancellor (VC).
Shahjalal University of Science and Technology appointed Dr AM Sarwaruddin Chowdhury, a professor of Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at Dhaka University, as the new VC; Dr Md. Sajedul Karim, of the Mathematics Department at SUST as pro VC. The position of treasurer has been filled by Dr Md Ismail Hossain of the Social Work department at SUST.
Dr Omar Faruk Yusuf, a former professor from the Surgery Department of Chattogram Medical University, has been appointed as the vice chancellor (VC) of Chattogram Medical University.
Professor Sohel Ahmed of Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and Professor M Mahfuzur Rahman of Botany Department were appointed as pro vice-chancellors of JU and Professor Md Abdur Rab of Mathematics Department as treasurer.
