12 KU students nominated for Prime Minister's Gold Medal
Twelve students of Khulna University (KU) have been nominated for the Prime Minister’s Gold Medal for the academic years 2019, 2020 and 2021.
The University Grants Commission (UGC) disclosed the information in a notification signed by Md Omar Faruk, director of its Research Grant and Award Division, on 5 October.
Of the 12 students, six were nominated for 2019, five for 2020 and one for 2021.
The 2019 nominees are Nazmus Sakif of Computer Science and Engineering, Tamalika Bala of Business Administration, Maisha Maliha Medha of Pharmacy, Tabassum Ema of Printmaking, Sadananda Mondal of Bangla and Mukta Akter of Economics.
The 2020 nominees are Md Mehedi Hasan Russell of Mathematics, Alamgir Hossain of Human Resource Management, Pratyasha Shikdar of Pharmacy, T M Rafat Rahman of English and Sudipta Debnath of Mass Communication and Journalism.
Tanaz Kabir of English was nominated for 2021.
KU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Rezaul Karim congratulated the students, saying the recognition reflects the academic excellence of students from different disciplines.
He expressed hope that their achievement would inspire other students to pursue better academic results, higher education and research.
The UGC has been awarding the Prime Minister’s Gold Medal since 2005 to recognise outstanding academic achievements at the university level.
