Agricultural Olympiad Season 4 concludes at BAU, spotlighting youth-led innovation in agriculture
Bangladesh Agricultural University hosted the grand finale of Agricultural Olympiad Season 4, powered by iFarmer, at the Syed Nazrul Islam Conference Hall, bringing together young innovators focused on transforming Bangladesh’s agricultural sector through science, technology, and agribusiness solutions.
Organised under the theme “Youth in Action, Smarter Farming in Motion,” the national competition drew significant participation from students across the country, reflecting growing interest in modern, technology-driven farming practices. More than 5,357 participants from 65 academic institutions initially took part, with 150 finalists advancing to the grand finale after multiple rounds of selection and case-solving challenges.
The finale featured high-stakes presentations where finalists pitched solutions across nine categories, followed by an interactive question-and-answer session. Organisers also recognised the most insightful questions from the audience, awarding books to encourage curiosity and engagement.
A key highlight of the ceremony was the recognition of Dr M. A. Rahim, recipient of the National Independence Award 2026, who was honoured by the organisers for his contribution to agriculture and national development.
Speaking at the event, Professor Dr Mohammad Saifullah highlighted the importance of balancing artificial intelligence with human judgement in agriculture, noting that while technology can support decision-making, it cannot replace human experience and critical thinking in solving agricultural challenges.
Guest speaker Jewel Rana, founder of Chitto Media, also shared insights on the role of storytelling in driving agricultural awareness and community transformation.
Winners were announced across multiple categories, including Agriculture, Fisheries, Livestock Production, Agribusiness & Agricultural Economics, Animal Health & Biosecurity, Food & Nutrition, Agricultural Innovation & Technology, Biotechnology & Genetics, and Climate and Environmental Science. Outstanding campus teams from BAU, IUBAT, and KAU were also recognised for their performance.
The event was supported by multiple partners, including PRAN, Premium Fruits, Meatbros, Fresh Ananya, Annayadhara Prokashoni, Manola, and several media and institutional collaborators such as The Business Standard and others, underscoring strong industry-academia engagement.
Organisers noted that Agricultural Olympiad Season 4 reflects a growing ecosystem of young problem-solvers working toward climate-resilient and technology-enabled agriculture in Bangladesh
