The BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (Buft) held its Research Excellence Award and Research Profile Book Launching Ceremony 2025 on 12 August at the university’s Multipurpose Hall.

The event was organised by the BUFT Institute of Textile and Apparel Research (Bitar) to recognise outstanding research contributions and academic excellence among the university’s faculty members and researchers.

Prof Dr A B M Obaidul Islam, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Dhaka, attended the event as the chief guest. Faruque Hassan, Chairman of the Buft Board of Trustees, chaired the programme, while Prof Dr Engr Ayub Nabi Khan, Vice-Chancellor (Designate) of Buft, attended as the special guest.

In his address, Prof Dr A B M Obaidul Islam highlighted the importance of research and innovation in strengthening higher education and advancing Bangladesh’s textile and apparel industry.

He also appreciated Buft’s initiatives to promote impactful academic and industry-oriented research.

The chairman of the Board of Trustees and other distinguished guests congratulated the award recipients and encouraged the university’s faculty and researchers to pursue greater excellence in research and innovation.

The research excellence award is a key initiative of Bitar aimed at fostering a stronger culture of research at BUFT and contributing to the development of textile, apparel, fashion and related fields.
