BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology (Buft) welcomed its newly admitted undergraduate, graduate and diploma students through a freshers’ reception and orientation programme.

The Fall 2026 programme was held at the Abdullah Hil Rakib Auditorium on the university’s Nishatnagar campus in Turag today, 25 August, according to a press release.

Buft Board of Trustees Chairman Faruque Hassan chaired the event, while Ministry of Science and Technology Secretary Md Anwar Hossain attended as chief guest.

Buft Board of Trustees Member Mohammed Nasir, Snowtex Group Managing Director SM Khaled and Bangladesh Packaging and Accessories Manufacturers and Exporters Association President Md Shahriar attended as guests.

Buft alumna Swapna Bhowmik, former head of region at Marks and Spencer, was also present.

Buft Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Engineer Ayub Nabi Khan, Registrar Md Rafiquzzaman, Director of Public Relations Mohammad Imtiaj and Director of Students’ Welfare Professor Dr Md Waliul Alam addressed the programme.

Speakers encouraged the students to use their university years to develop academic knowledge, professional skills, creativity, leadership and ethical values.

They also urged students to prepare for changing demands in the fashion, textile, business and technology sectors.

A current student and a newly admitted student shared their experiences and expectations during the event.

Snowtex Group distributed tree saplings among the students to promote environmental responsibility.

The programme concluded with a technical orientation covering academic and administrative services.

Representatives briefed students on the offices of the deans, Student Welfare, Public Relations, Controller of Examinations, Accounts, IT, Library, Logistics and the proctor.
