Bangladesh secured a total of 11 medals, including one gold, at the 27th International Robot Olympiad (IRO) held in Australia.

The Bangladesh team won one gold medal, six bronze medals and four technical medals at the international robotics competition. A 10-member team from Bangladesh participated in the event, which took place from 17 to 20 December at the Mantra Southport Sharks Convention Centre in Gold Coast. Medals were handed over to the winners at the closing ceremony on 21 December.

Representing Bangladesh, Mohammad Abdullah Al Titu, a student of Ananda Mohan College, won the gold medal in the Creative category (senior group) at the 27th International Robot Olympiad.

Bangladesh won bronze medals in several categories. Nusaiba Tajrin Tanisha, a student of YWCA Higher Secondary Girls’ School, secured bronze medals in the Creative Movie category (senior group) and Physical Computing category (senior group). Zubaidah Jafrin of Mohammadpur Preparatory School and College won bronze in the Physical Computing junior low group, while Ridowan Rabbani of Ideal School and College earned bronze in the Physical Computing junior high group. Khondaker Mushfiqur Islam of Dhaka Residential Model College and Priyanti Das of Scholastica School won bronze medals in the Creative category (senior group).

Bangladesh also earned technical medals. Mohammad Zarif Bin Saleq of Dhaka Residential Model College and Nafia Basar Suhani of Mohammadpur Preparatory School and College won technical medals in the Physical Computing category (senior group). Jaima Jahin Wara of William Carey Academy received a technical medal in the Creative category (senior group), while Priyanti Das of Scholastica School won a technical medal in the Creative Movie category (senior group).

Secretary of the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, Shish Haider Chowdhury, NDC, and Director General of the Department of Information and Communication Technology, Md Abu Sayeed (Additional Secretary), congratulated the Bangladesh team on their success. They expressed optimism that more competitors from Bangladesh would participate in the International Robot Olympiad in the future.

The Bangladesh team’s participation in the competition was fully sponsored by the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology and the Department of Information and Communication Technology.

It may be mentioned that the Bangladesh Open Source Network organised the IRO Bangladesh Open 2025, with online preliminary rounds held on 29–30 August and the national round on 12–13 September at the University of Asia Pacific in Dhaka. Winners from the Creative Movie, Creative and Physical Computing categories were selected through a national evaluation and training camp to form the international team.

Bangladesh has been participating in the International Robot Olympiad since 2018. Over the past eight years, the Bangladesh team has won a total of 94 medals, including 15 gold medals, at the global competition.
