Chittagong University (CU) authorities have suspended all classes and examinations scheduled for today ( 08 July ) due to inclement weather conditions.

The decision was announced through a notice signed by Acting Registrar Prof. Dr. Mohammed Saiful Islam this morning.

The notice cited adverse weather, waterlogging and transport disruptions on the campus and surrounding areas as reasons for the suspension. The notice has already been published on the university’s official Facebook page.

The suspension comes as incessant rainfall since Sunday has caused severe waterlogging in different parts of Chittagong, flooding homes and shops and disrupting normal life in the port city.

Earlier, on Tuesday morning, train services on the Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar route were temporarily suspended after rainwater inundated the railway tracks.

Meanwhile, several minor landslides have also occurred at different points on the Chittagong University campus.
