The three-day ‘DIU Book Fair 2026’ at Daffodil International University (DIU) concluded successfully on 11 August, drawing more than 7,000 visitors daily and featuring 21 publishing houses. Organised at the Student Lounge of Knowledge Tower at Daffodil Smart City from 9 to 11 August, the fair received strong participation from students, teachers and researchers.

Organised jointly by the DIU Library and DIU Press to encourage reading and develop regular reading habits among students, the fair featured 21 renowned publishing houses in collaboration with the Bangladesh Publishers and Booksellers Association. The Bangladesh Research and Education Network (BdREN) of the University Grants Commission (UGC) was the official sponsor, according to a press release.

Acting Vice-Chancellor of DIU Professor Dr Mohammad Masum Iqbal inaugurated the fair on 9 August. Senior DIU officials, representatives of BdREN and eminent writers were present at the inauguration. Following the ceremony, the guests, including the acting vice-chancellor, visited various stalls and spoke with publishers about their books and publications.

The participating publishers displayed a wide range of Bengali and English publications, including literature, novels, short stories, poetry, essays, academic books and research publications. The fair provided DIU students, teachers and researchers with an opportunity to explore and purchase books according to their academic and personal interests.

The fair remained open from 9am to 4pm each day for DIU teachers, students, officials, researchers and other members of the university community. More than 7,000 visitors attended the fair each day, creating a lively atmosphere around books and knowledge.

The university authorities said regular reading plays an important role in building a knowledge-based and creative society. They noted that reading beyond academic materials can enrich students’ thinking, creativity and knowledge, while book fairs provide opportunities to discover new books and authors and encourage a culture of learning.

Throughout the three-day event, visitors had the opportunity to purchase books and explore publications covering literature, culture, history, research and contemporary issues alongside academic subjects.
