East West University (EWU) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Huawei Technologies Limited to provide students with industry-oriented training, technology resources and specialised professional certifications for careers in the information and communication technology (ICT) sector.

The university signed the agreement on campus yesterday (8 October) with Huawei Technologies Limited, establishing a framework for collaboration under the global Huawei ICT Academy programme, according to the press release.

Through the partnership, students will gain access to training and resources that develop practical skills and prepare them for global ICT career opportunities.

East West University was represented at the ceremony by Professor Dr Mohammad Ashik Mosaddik, acting vice-chancellor, and Professor Dr Ahmed Wasif Reza, dean of the Faculty of Sciences and Engineering, with other members of the university leadership.

Huawei representatives included Ma Ben, managing director of public affairs for Huawei South Asia, and delegates from the company’s Brand and Communications Department.

Speaking about the partnership, university leaders said the collaboration reflected EWU’s continued commitment to equipping students with career-ready skills and fostering innovation.

Huawei representatives expressed interest in supporting youth development and building ICT talent in Bangladesh.

Around 100 students and faculty members attended the ceremony to learn about upcoming initiatives under the partnership.
