Bangladesh Maritime University (BMU), one of the country’s emerging institutions of higher learning, has reached a significant milestone by securing the official TEDx licence to organise its own independently hosted TEDx event.

TEDx events are globally recognised platforms that unite successful, creative and inspiring individuals to share transformative ideas and experiences, aiming to motivate and enlighten local communities.

According to the university authorities, this milestone marks a new chapter in BMU’s journey and will inspire students to think innovatively, cultivate creativity and foster critical thinking.

TEDx operates under the global TED framework, focusing on sharing ideas that inspire change through locally organised events. Academics, entrepreneurs, students and professionals worldwide have long participated in TEDx conferences to disseminate knowledge, innovation and inspiration.

The inclusion of Bangladesh Maritime University among TEDx licence holders highlights a remarkable achievement for the country’s higher education sector and underscores its growing international outlook.

The university is now preparing to host its inaugural TEDx conference. A dedicated organising team comprising academic staff and students is working to ensure an engaging and vibrant event, featuring topics on technology, education, science, social awareness and environmental sustainability.

The university’s Vice-Chancellor and Pro-Vice-Chancellor have both expressed their full support and appreciation for this prestigious initiative.
