Dhaka hosts first tri-nation indie concert with Indie Fest: Chapter One
Dhaka witnessed one of its most culturally significant live music events of the year as Indie Fest: Chapter One successfully brought together acclaimed independent artists from Bangladesh, India, and Pakistan for the city’s first tri-nation indie concert. The event, held on 8 May at Courtside, Madani Avenue, drew a full house and celebrated the rising influence of independent music across South Asia.
The night opened with a powerful performance by Level Five from Bangladesh, whose alternative rock sound and emotionally charged lyrics immediately energised the audience. Indian folk-indie fusion band Taalpatar Shepai followed, blending contemporary storytelling with traditional musical textures that resonated strongly with concertgoers.
Pakistani band Bayaan then took the stage, delivering anthemic, immersive performances that had the audience singing along throughout their set. The evening closed with Abdul Hannan, also from Pakistan, whose captivating performance brought the crowd to their feet with cheers and singalongs to some of his most beloved tracks.
Organisers described Indie Fest: Chapter One as more than a concert, calling it the start of a broader movement aimed at amplifying independent voices and fostering cultural exchange through music across the subcontinent. The enthusiastic response from the audience highlighted Dhaka’s growing appetite for curated live music experiences that transcend borders and mainstream formats.
With artists from three countries performing on a single stage, Indie Fest: Chapter One marked a milestone for Bangladesh’s independent music scene and set the stage for future cross-border collaborations in the region.
