Abdullah Al Rafi Mahmud, a Computer Science and Engineering student at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB), has won a gold medal in the Softech segment of the Project Showcase at the Fibonacci International Robot and STEM Olympiad Bangladesh National Round.

Representing Team The Divergent, Mahmud and his teammate secured first place in the national round with an app-based project.

The competition was held at United International University (UIU), bringing together participants showcasing technology-driven solutions and STEM innovations.

The event was attended by Alexandra A Khlevnoy, Director of the Russian House, Nurul Haque Nur, Member of Parliament and State Minister for Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment, and Bobby Hajjaj, Member of Parliament and State Minister for Primary and Mass Education.

The team’s project received positive feedback from judges and guests. Khlevnoy praised the application, reviewed the project and expressed interest in highlighting it in Russia.

Following their national-level victory, The Divergent will represent Bangladesh at the international round of the competition in Italy.
