National University has begun activities for its nationwide “Inter-College Cultural, Debate and Sports Competition 2026”, aimed at developing students’ talents and promoting healthy recreation.

The initiative is part of the government’s “Learning with Happiness” commitment and is open to regular students enrolled in bachelor’s pass, bachelor’s honours and master’s programmes at colleges affiliated with National University.

Online registration for the cultural and debate competitions began on 12 July and will continue until 30 July 2026.

Registration for teacher representatives accompanying students to the divisional-level sports competitions began on 9 July and will also remain open until 30 July.

Students interested in participating must contact their respective college authorities. The colleges will register participants by entering their details through National University’s designated online portal.

Fixtures will be prepared from 1–6 August, while district-level cultural and debate competitions will take place from 7 August–12 September. Dates for the divisional and final rounds and the awards ceremony will be announced later.

Individual cultural events include patriotic songs, Nazrul Sangeet, Rabindra Sangeet, modern songs, folk songs, recitation, acting, dance and extempore speech.

Group events include mass songs, creative group dance and debate.

Meanwhile, the district-level sports competitions have already concluded. Divisional competitions featuring the district-level winners will be held from 23 August–10 October 2026.

Athletics events include the 100-metre, 200-metre and 400-metre sprints; 800-metre and 5,000-metre races; 4×100-metre and 4×800-metre relays; 110-metre and 100-metre hurdles; shot put; discus throw; javelin throw; high jump; triple jump; hammer throw; and pole vault.

Team events include chess with four-member teams, swimming with eight-member teams, basketball with 12-member teams, cricket with 16-member teams, carrom with four-member teams, handball with 12-member teams, hockey with 16-member teams, badminton with four-member teams, karate with 12-member teams, football with 16-member teams, table tennis with four-member teams and volleyball with 12-member teams.

The schedule for the final stage of the sports competition and the awards ceremony will be announced later.
