Children’s team Tarar Bari has won a gold medal for its “Mars Odyssey” project at the Fibonacci International Robot and STEM Olympiad 2026 – Bangladesh National Round.

The day-long Olympiad was held at the United International University (UIU) campus in Dhaka on 4 September and drew nearly 1,000 students from schools, colleges and universities across Bangladesh.

“Mars Odyssey” is a robotics concept based on a rover designed to explore Mars.

The project shows how robotic technology can support exploration, data collection, and scientific operations in challenging environments.

The team received the gold medal for the project’s concept, technical capabilities and problem-solving approach.

State Minister for Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Nurul Haque Nur MP attended the event as the chief guest.

He said technology was shaping the modern world and identified robotics and artificial intelligence as promising fields for the future.

He also encouraged young people to pursue science, technology and innovation.

Academics, technology professionals and other guests were also present.

Parents attending the event said the achievement would encourage more children and young people across Bangladesh to pursue innovation in robotics, science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), and space science.
