The TFP Film Club of the University of Dhaka marked its Noborsho celebrations on 16 April with a special screening of the acclaimed 2024 film Priyo Maloti, followed by an interactive Meet the Makers session.
The event began with a full house screening attended by more than 60 students from various departments across the university. After the screening, director Shankha Dasgupta and cinematographer Barkat Hossain Polash joined the audience for a discussion, sharing insights into their collaboration and the creative vision behind the film.
In response to a question about his recurring focus on female protagonists, Shankha highlighted the importance of telling stories that often remain outside the spotlight.
TFP Chairperson and Film Club moderator Saiyeed Shahjada Al Kareem said the event aimed to encourage students to engage with films through discussion and critical thinking, helping to shape the next generation of filmmakers. He also invited attendees to take part in the club’s weekly film screenings, held every Thursday.
