TFP Film Club hosts Noborsho screening and filmmaker dialogue at University of Dhaka
The TFP Film Club of University of Dhaka hosted a special Noborsho celebration on 16 April 2026, featuring a screening of the acclaimed 2024 film Priyo Maloti, followed by a Meet-the-Makers session.
The event began with a full-house screening attended by more than 60 students from various departments across the university. The screening was followed by an interactive discussion session with director Shankha Dasgupta and cinematographer Barkat Hossain Polash, who shared insights into their creative collaboration and the artistic vision behind the film.
During the discussion, Shankha Dasgupta reflected on his recurring focus on female protagonists, emphasising the importance of telling stories that often remain underrepresented in mainstream cinema.
TFP Chairperson and Film Club moderator Saiyeed Shahjada Al Kareem described the programme as an initiative aimed at encouraging students to watch, discuss, and critically engage with films, helping to nurture the next generation of filmmakers. He also invited students to join the club’s weekly film screenings, held every Thursday.
The event marked a vibrant cultural celebration of Noborsho, combining cinema appreciation with creative dialogue and student engagement.
