ULAB hosts sustainability-focused orientation for Summer 2026 freshers
The University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) organised a sustainability-focused orientation for newly admitted students of the Summer 2026 semester on Thursday at its campus. The event emphasised environmental responsibility, innovation, and community engagement.
The orientation brought together incoming students and their families in a day-long programme designed to introduce ULAB’s academic culture while promoting sustainability, environmental awareness, and responsible citizenship. The event included interactive sessions, cultural performances, and engagement activities to foster connections between students and the university community.
A major highlight was the launch of the “1 Seed Box – 5 Global Goals” initiative by Vice Chancellor Prof Shamsad Mortuza. Each fresher received a seed box containing materials to grow a Bakul flower plant. The vice chancellor encouraged students to nurture the plants as symbols of sustainable growth and to share their progress through a dedicated section on the university website.
The programme also featured a session on essential skills development, reflecting ULAB’s commitment to experiential learning, innovation, and socially responsible education. The event began with an interactive ice-breaking session organised by the Student Affairs Office, followed by the formal inauguration ceremony.
Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Jude William Genilo shared insights into ULAB’s academic vision, student development initiatives, and global achievements. He highlighted the university’s recognition in the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI), noting ULAB’s innovative approach to higher education and emphasis on impactful learning models.
The orientation concluded with cultural performances by ULAB Sangskriti Sangsad, various student clubs, and musical performances by the bands Grave Chant and Antonagar, creating an engaging and celebratory atmosphere for the incoming cohort.
Through initiatives like this orientation, ULAB continues to integrate sustainability and global citizenship into student life, preparing learners to become responsible leaders capable of addressing contemporary environmental and social challenges.
