Accounts & Admin Officer | Bangladesh Legal Aid and Services Trust

Responsibilities & Context
The Accounts and Administrative Officer implements the project budget and ensures financial requirements. S/he is accountable for the donor’s compliance requirements and regulations and agrees with BLAST’s documents BLAST. The incumbent will review and check the relevant documents of project activities. S/he will continuously contact the HO Finance team.

  • The incumbent will coordinate and assist the internal and external auditors during the audit. Additionally, s/he will perform other tasks the supervisor assigns as and when required.
  • Preparing and checking all bills and vouchers.
  • Preparing and dispatching Monthly/ Quarterly/ Yearly financial statements using Tally Accounting Software.
  • Preparing Bank Reconciliation Report (BRR).
  • Preparing and maintaining journal entries, stock register, cheque register, asset register, VAT register, and tax register.
  • Maintaining legal service bill register.
  • Maintaining Litigation Provision Statement.
  • Checking all financial transactions and positions to be updated regularly in the Unit Office.
  • Preparing of monthly/ quarterly/yearly budget of the Unit in consultation with the Coordinator of the Unit.
  • Sending the financial statements and other documents to the Head Office.
  • Maintaining correspondence with the Bank.
  • Maintaining and updating the attendance register, leave register movement register, etc.
  • Maintaining and updating employees’ files.
  • Performing administrative responsibilities as per the guidelines of the Unit Coordinator.
  • Following up on the instructions of the Head Office and the Unit Coordinator.
  • Performing all other duties as and when required.

Requirements

Education: Master of Commerce (MCom)

Experience

  • At least 3 years
  • The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s): NGO

Additional Requirements

  • Age at least 25 years
  • At least 3 years of experience in the relevant field in national/international NGOs is preferable.
  • Proficient in budget formats in Excel or any other standard financial management program will be a plus point.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of qualitative and quantitative assessment techniques.
  • Strong communication skills and proven experience in interpreting information and report writing in Bangla and English.
  • Capacity to work independently, and under pressure.
  • Good computer knowledge is essential, especially in MS Word, Excel, and Accounting Software (Tally). The candidate should also be skilled at email communication.
