Project Summary:

  • The Executive Development Centre (EDC), under the Skills for Industry Competitiveness and Innovation Program (SICIP), Finance Division, Ministry of Finance, has been established at the BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD), Brac University, to offer the Postgraduate Diploma in Knitwear Industry Management (PGD-KIM).

About BIGD:

  • By influencing policy and practice through rigorous research and quality academic programs, BIGD aims to promote innovation in governance and development processes toward a more just and prosperous society. Partnering with academics worldwide, BIGD conducts multi-methods research on governance and development issues in close collaboration with several crucial departments of the Government of Bangladesh, large non-profits such as BRAC, and international organizations such as the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. BIGD oversees BRAC International’s Independent Research and Evaluation Cell (IERC), which works in ten countries across Asia and Africa. BIGD also hosts the Country Office of the International Growth Centre (IGC), London School of Economics (LSE); and the ED of BIGD heads the IGC Country Office.

Key Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of the position include:

  • Ensuring the effective accounting, fund management, payments, and procurement.
  • Keep track of utilization of funds as per financial regulations of SICIP and BIGD, BRAC University.
  • Prepare and submit milestone claim invoices to SICIP following the Business Plan and SICIP guidelines.
  • Track EDC’s project expenditure against approved budgets to ensure there is no cost overrun and the expenditure complies with the contracts.
  • Prepare and update the financial reports, ledger, and other related documents.
  • Prepare budget and budget variance reports.
  • Prepare periodical financial reports including monthly statement of expenditures, quarterly reports, etc. for submission of SICIP.
  • Calculate faculty remunerations and students’ allowances and manage timely disbursement as per the Business Plan and BRACU’s procedures.
  • Perform day-to-day finance and accounting activities to support the program.
  • Complete regular posting and updating ERP software and monthly reconciliation of every transaction after posting in software
  • Undertake preparations for both external and internal audits.
  • Examine and verify bills and vouchers as per BIGD and SICIP guidelines.
  • Maintain liaison with the bank.
  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned by EDC’s directors

Requirements

Education
To qualify for the position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • MBA or Master’s degree in Accounting/Finance/Business from any reputed university in Bangladesh.CA (cc) from any reputed CA Firm is mandatory. CA certificate-level qualified candidates will be preferred.

Experience: At least 2 years

Additional Requirements

  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in an academic institution, government, semi-government, or autonomous organization.
