
Advocacy & Communication Officer | NGO Forum for Public Health
Responsibilities & Context
- Develop and implement policy, engagement and knowledge transmission strategies for different projects of the organization.
- Support and implement capacity-strengthening activities for the organization.
- Develop knowledge translation products such as evidence briefs, fact sheets, and project profiles, among other publications.
- Support and conduct policy analysis on relevant issues related to thematic areas of different projects under the organization.
- Lead the dissemination of research findings from the projects with creative and innovative products to harness the public interest.
- Support the production of relevant documentation for use in advocacy and policy initiatives.
- Support compliance with donor requirements such as writing of annual progress reports and updates to the project funder.
- Provide support to the wider Policy Engagement and Communications Program as requested including writing program’s reports and fundraising efforts.
- Coordinate and collect information for the monthly and quarterly updates and ensure timely dissemination of the same.
- In collaboration with Project Focal, facilitate engagement with media for profiling of the projects through media pitches.
- Review organizational policies and plan for the best suitable policies and SOP for the best interest of the organization while maintaining local and international authority standards.
- Prepare and proceed the SOP & Policies to the management for the necessary approval.
- Communicate new and updated policies to staff through various channels like emails, intranet updates, meetings, and training session.
- Providing clarification on policy details when needed and addressing employee questions about policy implementation.
Requirements
Education: Master’s in Governance & Development / Public Administration / Mass Communication & Journalism / Laws / International Relations / Development studies, or related field.
Experience
- At least 5 years
- The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s): NGO, Development Agency
Additional Requirements
- Age at most 40 years
- At least five (5) years work experience in policy engagement, communication, writing and content creation, public relations and media relations.
- Experience in legal and policy analysis of development initiatives.
- Experience in producing high-quality written work to influence policy outcomes.
- Experience in working with diverse stakeholders, including communities, national and international NGOs, UN/Donor Agencies, Government ministries, and government bodies.
- Good organization skills to track priorities, work to deadlines and manage projects.
- Flexible and adaptable approach in order to respond to shifting priorities and a rapidly evolving external environment.
- The ability and desire to acquire and maintain knowledge of policy areas with a specific focus on relevant issues.
- Good interpersonal skills, to work and build relationships with a wide range of people holding different views.
- Good time management and organizational skills.
- Experience and evidence of fundraising work is an added advantage.
- Excellent communication (written and spoken) skills to absorb complex information and present it to different audiences in a clear and accessible way.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
