Public Health Epidemiologist

Requirements

Education: A Medical Graduate (MBBS) is required, preferably with Masters in Public Health (MPH)

Experience: At least 2 years

Additional Requirements

  • At least 2 years’ experience in public health programming, preferably in the camp setting
  • Experience in community-based health programming and public health research works.
  • Demonstrated experience in capacity building for diverse groups of people
  • Relationship building, influencing, negotiating, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyse strategic trends and develop appropriate plans and responses to manage risks.
  • Written and spoken skills in English.
  • Candidates from the CXB and Chattogram District will get preference.

Responsibilities

The Opportunity: The Public Health Epidemiologist will be responsible for leading the design and implementation of public health programs (like community needs/situational assessments, rapid epidemiological studies, and outbreak investigations, etc.) based on identified priorities in consultation with the Health Sector, Cox’s Bazar and relevant MOHFW Authorities at the District level. S/he will assist in capacity building of health sector partners staff on public health concepts and implementation of public health campaign activities in the camps and also will regularly participate in capacity building initiatives (formal training, mentoring/ coaching) taken by the project. The incumbent will maintain excellent working relationships with the Health Sector Coordinator-CXB, WHO Epi team, MOHFW Authorities, and other relevant stakeholders through regular meetings and implementation of joint public health programs. S/he will also be responsible for managing the public health program activity budget at the camp level and preparing activity reports as necessary.
