The Government of Hungary, in agreement with the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, invites applications for the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship for the 2026/2027 academic year. This fully-funded scholarship aims to support international students in pursuing higher education at prestigious Hungarian host institutions.

1. SCHOLARSHIP PROVISIONS The scholarship provides comprehensive financial support for the entire duration of the study programme:

• Tuition Fees: Full exemption from the payment of tuition fees.
• Monthly Stipend: HUF 43,700 (approx. EUR 110) contributed towards living expenses for 12 months a year until the completion of studies.
• Accommodation Contribution: Free dormitory place or a monthly contribution of HUF 40,000 towards private rental costs.
• Medical Insurance: Health care services according to Hungarian legislation and supplementary medical insurance up to HUF 65,000 per annum.

2. ELIGIBILITY FOR BANGLADESHI APPLICANTS

• Nationality: Applicants must be citizens of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.
• Age Requirement: Applicants must be at least 18 years old by 31 August 2026.
• Study Levels: Applications are open for Bachelor’s, Master’s, One-Tier Master’s, and non-degree specialised training courses.
• Academic Priority: Preference is given to those applying for STEM+ fields (Natural Sciences, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Agriculture, and Health Sciences).

3. MANDATORY APPLICATION DOCUMENTS All documents must be uploaded to the online system. Documents not issued in English or Hungarian must have a certified British or Hungarian translation.

• Online Application Form: Must be completed in English with a recent photo.
• Motivation Letter: Minimum one page, Times New Roman 12-point font.
• Academic Certificates: Scanned copies of secondary school graduation or bachelor’s degree certificates.
• Transcript of Records: Detailed semester-wise records of previous studies.
• Identification: A scanned copy of a valid Passport. If a passport is not yet available, a scanned copy of the National ID (NID) card is mandatory.
• Language Proficiency: Proof of language proficiency as required by the chosen host institution.

4. DUAL APPLICATION PROCEDURE Bangladeshi applicants must follow a strict two-step process to be considered for nomination:

• Step 01: Submit the application through the Tempus Public Foundation online system at apply.stipendiumhungaricum.hu.
• Step 02: Submit a parallel application to the Sending Partner in Bangladesh (the Ministry of Education). Applicants must check with local authorities for specific domestic deadlines and requirements. Only those nominated by the Sending Partner will proceed to the institutional examinations.

5. KEY TIMELINE AND DEADLINES

• Application Submission Deadline: 15 January 2026 (2:00 PM CET).
• Nomination by Sending Partner: By 28 February 2026.
• Entrance Examinations: March – May 2026.
• Final Selection Results: June – July 2026.
• Visa Application Process: July – August 2026.

6. IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS

• Agency Warning: The application process is free of charge. No third-party agencies are authorised to represent the programme.
• Programme Selection: Applicants may select a maximum of two study programmes in order of preference.
• Medical Certificate: Awarded scholars must submit a medical certificate of satisfactory health status (issued no earlier than 1 November 2025).
• Language Requirement: All scholarship holders must attend a “Hungarian as a Foreign Language” course during their first year of study.
