Types of Scholarships Offered
The Croatian Government Scholarships are divided into two application pools:

1. Application Pool 1: Scholarships Based on Bilateral Agreements
These scholarships are available to citizens of countries that have bilateral agreements with Croatia. The following types of scholarships are offered:

  • A1: One semester of Croatian language studies (4-5 months).
  • A2: Semester/partial studies for undergraduate or graduate students (4-10 months).
  • B: Full undergraduate (BA) or graduate (MA) studies (36 or 24 months).
  • C1: Full PhD studies (36 months).
  • C2: Partial PhD studies or research (1-10 months).
  • D: Postdoctoral studies or research (1-10 months).
  • E: Short-term postdoctoral research visits (3-29 days).
  • F: Summer seminar on Croatian language and literature (2 weeks).

2. Application Pool 2: Scholarships for Learning Croatian Language
These scholarships are open to students of Croatian language and literature or Slavic studies, regardless of bilateral agreements. The following types are available:

  • F: Summer seminar on Croatian language and literature (2 weeks).
  • A1: Semester studies for Croatian language students (4-5 months).

Eligibility Criteria for the Croatian Government Scholarships 2025-2026

  • Applicants must be citizens of countries with valid bilateral agreements with Croatia (for Application Pool 1).
    • Minimum of 2 semesters completed at the home institution for most scholarships.
    • Bachelor’s degree for MA programs, Master’s degree for PhD programs, and PhD degree for postdoctoral research.
  • Language Proficiency:
    • For Croatian language programs: Minimum B1 level in Croatian.
    • For other programs: Proficiency in English or Croatian, depending on the program.
  • Age Limit:
    • 30 years for BA, MA, and PhD applicants.
    • No age limit for postdoctoral researchers and language program applicants.

  • Letter of Interest (1-2 pages).
  • Proof of enrolment at the home institution.
  • Academic transcripts from the last two semesters.
