Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD) scholarships in Germany

The German Academic Exchange Service ( DAAD) scholarships offer foreign graduates from developed and newly industrialised countries from all disciplines and with at least two years of professional experience the chance to take a postgraduate or master’s degree at a state or state-recognised German university, and in exceptional cases to take a doctoral degree, and to obtain a university qualification in Germany.

Programme period

  1. 12 to 24 months for Masters

Scholarship coverage

  1. Monthly payments of 934 euros for graduates or 1300 euros for doctoral candidates
  2. Payment toward health; accident and personal liability insurance cover
  3. Travel allowance
  4. Monthly rent
  5. Monthly allowance for accompanying members of the family

Eligibility criteria

  1. Graduate with at least two years of personal experience from eligible countries
  2. A candidate must have a 4-year bachelor’s degree or equivalent if applying for a master’s degree programme
  3. A candidate must have a master’s degree or equivalent if applying for a doctoral degree programme
  4. A candidate must have 2 years of professional experience
  5. An international student residing in Germany for more than 15 years is not eligible to apply
