The Bangladesh team achieved an impressive feat winning 10 medals, including 2 gold, 4 silver, and 4 bronze at the 26th International Robot Olympiad. The event took place in Busan, South Korea, from 17 to 20 January 2025. The awards ceremony was held today, 21 January.
The gold medals were awarded to Arrietti Islam of Team Anaari in the Junior Group of the Creative category and Namia Rawjat of Team Seriously Clueless in the Senior Group of the Creative Movie category.
Silver medals were secured by: Arrietti Islam (Team Anaari) in the Physical Computing Junior category, Nusaiyba Tajrin (Team Zeroth) in the Creative Movie Senior category, Priyonti Das (Team Shifu), Team SAF.AI members Hasin Ishraq Chowdhury, AZM Imtenan Kabir, and Abrar Abir in the Creative Senior category.
The Bronze medalists are: Nafiya Bashar (Team The Screw Loose) in the Physical Computing Junior category, Nusaiyba Tajrin (Team Zeroth) in the Senior Group of the same category, Namia Rawjat (Team Seriously Clueless) in the Creative Movie Senior category, Team SAF.AI, comprising Hasin Ishraq Chowdhury, AZM Imtenan Kabir, and Abrar Abir, in the same Creative Senior category.
This year, the Bangladesh team consisted of 10 participants from various educational institutions, including: Arrietti Islam (Monipur High School and College), Nafiya Bashar (Mohammadpur Preparatory School and College), Priyonti Das (Scholastica), Misbah Uddin Inan (Notre Dame College), Jaima Zahin Wara (William Carey Academy), Nusaiyba Tajrin (YWCA Higher Secondary Girls’ School), Namia Rawjat (Hardco International School), Hasin Ishraq Chowdhury, AZM Imtenan Kabir, and Abrar Abir (Dhaka Residential Model College).
The 10-member team was selected through a rigorous process organised by the Bangladesh Open Source Network. The 7th Bangladesh Robot Olympiad, held in September and October 2024, identified the best talents for international participation. A two-day selection camp further refined the team which followed a two-month intensive training through 21 high-performance camps.
Since 2018, the Bangladesh Robot Olympiad has been organised with support from the ICT Division and the Department of ICT, under the initiative of the Bangladesh Open Source Network. This platform aims to inspire young minds in STEM fields and prepare them for global robotics competitions.
