Bangladeshi team ‘System Error’ wins gold at WSEEC 2025

A team from Bangladesh, ‘System Error’, won a Gold Medal in the ‘Environment’ category and a Special Award for ‘Innovation in Sustainable Environmental Impact’ at the World Science, Environment, and Engineering Competition (WSEEC) 2025.

Held from 19–22 May at Universitas Pancasila, Jakarta, Indonesia, this year’s event featured 293 teams from 14 countries, reports The Daily Star.

‘System Error’ received the awards for their AI-powered autonomous waste management bot, ‘Green Rover’. The bot has infrared and ultrasonic sensors to detect smart bins, a servo-controlled collection system, waste-sorting capabilities, water-spraying features for dusty environments, and live environmental data transmission to the cloud.

Members include Md Tanjir Arafat and Nur Hossen Asif from American International University Bangladesh, Mohammad Mehran Islam Mahim from BAF Shaheen College, and Md Reain Shahrior Prottoy from South Point School and College.
