Primary and Mass Education Adviser Dr Bidhan Chandra Ray Podder today said that five new beautiful primary school buildings including one in Azampur at Dhaka’s Uttara would be inaugurated on 1 June.  

The inaugural ceremony would be held at the Azampur Primary School compound.

The government has been constructing this type of scenic school buildings across the country, which is equipped with the facilities suitable for mental growth of the children and their classes, a handout from the ministry said.

Four other buildings were constructed at Government Primary School at Mirpur-1, Khalilur Rahman Government Primary School at Mirpur-12, Diyabari Government Primary School at Uttara and Kobbad Sardar Government Primary School at Gendaria in the city.

These five buildings have been constructed at a cost of Tk24.96 crore. Of the buildings, four are four-story and one is three-story. 

On 26 December last, the adviser had inaugurated five such primary school buildings in Dhaka.

Under the project, began in January 2020, 132 primary schools in 12 thanas of Dhaka City will have new buildings while 10 will be renovated and 14 new primary schools will be constructed.

The local government engineering department (LGED) is implementing the project at a cost of Tk1,372.82 crore to be completed in 2027.
