Dr. Hakikur Rahman, a distinguished ICT expert from Bangladesh and Professor and Chair of the Computer Science and Engineering Department at International Standard University, recently participated in a high-level global forum hosted by the United Nations World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS+20). The event, held both in Geneva and virtually, featured Session 413 titled “Closing the Global Digital Divide.”
During his presentation, Dr. Rahman highlighted the critical need for inclusive, people-centred ICT policies to ensure equitable access in the digital era. Drawing from Bangladesh’s experiences, he stressed the importance of expanding rural connectivity, empowering women digitally, and enhancing access to technology for youth and marginalized communities.
Dr. Rahman’s intervention was well received and widely covered by international media, reflecting Bangladesh’s increasing role in championing digital inclusion and sustainable ICT development on the global stage.
