Cortex Robotics, a collaborative student team from RUET and BUTEX, has won the Bangladesh national round of the 6th Kibo Robot Programming Challenge (Kibo-RPC), a prestigious global robotics competition jointly organised by JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency) and NASA.

Led by Muhammad Humam Hossain of BUTEX, the team comprises mechatronics students from RUET spanning batches 2020, 2021 and 2023. The challenge tasked participants with programming autonomous operations for free-flying robots aboard the International Space Station (ISS).

Cortex Robotics emerged victorious among more than 100 competing teams, earning 289.13 points and securing the opportunity to represent Bangladesh in the international finals to be held in Japan.

The team’s success highlights Bangladesh’s growing strength in robotics and STEM education, while inspiring future innovators to reach beyond national boundaries and contribute to global scientific advancement.
